What It Takes to Be Houston’s #1 Choice for Garage Door Repair

Updated October 2026. This post first ran in July 2019 as a press release. We rewrote it so it reflects how Garage & Gate Service Pros works today.

Plenty of companies call themselves the #1 choice for garage door repair in Houston. We would rather show you what that phrase means on an actual service call: who shows up, what we put in writing, and what you should ask any company before you let them work on the heaviest moving object in your home.

Who we are in 2026

Garage & Gate Service Pros is a family-owned and operated garage door and driveway gate company, with family members working in the business alongside our team. We have served Houston and surrounding areas since 2012, and owner Ryan Woods has over 15 years of hands-on experience in the trade. Our team works from two locations: our Houston location at 814 Thornton Rd, Houston, TX 77018, and our Conroe office at 8964 Argonne Stone Ln, Conroe, TX 77302.

Many customers first knew us as Garage Service Pros. Today our name reflects the full scope of our work: along with garage doors, we repair and install driveway gates, gate openers and access control for homes and businesses. Along the way, customers have left over 800 verified reviews across our Garage & Gate Service Pros Google listings. We do not take that for granted. Every one of those reviews came from a real job at a real home or business.

What “#1 choice” looks like on a service call

A slogan is easy. These are the things we actually do on every job:

  • Our own technicians. The certified technicians who come to your home are part of our team. They are never sub-contractors.
  • Fully stocked trucks. Our trucks carry common springs, rollers, cables, hinges and opener parts, so we can aim for first-visit repairs instead of a second trip.
  • Upfront, honest pricing. We explain your options and the cost before any work starts. You will not be surprised by the bill at the end.
  • Warranties in writing. Every job carries at least a 30-day workmanship warranty under the GSP Guarantee. New opener installs come with a 90-day labor warranty, and the manufacturer’s warranty covers parts.
  • Reliable scheduling. Our office is open 6 days a week: weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you have a garage door emergency, call us and we will get you scheduled as soon as possible.

What we do for Houston homes and businesses

Six questions to ask any Houston garage door company

Whether you call us or someone else, these questions will tell you a lot in a few minutes.

1. Will your own technician do the work?

Ask whether the person who shows up works for the company or is a sub-contractor. It matters when you need someone to stand behind the job later.

2. What is the workmanship warranty, and is it in writing?

Parts are usually covered by the manufacturer. The workmanship, meaning the labor, is on the company that did the work. Ask for a warranty on parts and labor, find out how long each one lasts before the job starts, and get it on your invoice.

3. Will I get the price before you start?

A good company walks you through your options and gives you the cost before anyone picks up a tool. Be careful with anyone who will not tell you what the job costs until it is finished.

4. Do you carry parts on the truck?

Springs, rollers and cables come in many sizes. A truck stocked with common parts often means one visit instead of two, and a door that works again the same trip.

5. What do recent reviews say on third-party listings?

Testimonials on a company’s own website are hand-picked. Read Google reviews from the last year or two, look at how many there are across the company’s listings, and notice how the company responds when something goes wrong.

6. Do you work on my brand?

Openers and gate operators vary a lot. We service garage door openers from LiftMaster, Genie, Chamberlain and Craftsman, and gate operators from LiftMaster, Nice, Beninca and Viking. Whoever you call, ask if they know your equipment.

A quick safety note

Garage door springs and cables hold a lot of tension. If a spring breaks or a cable snaps, leave the door closed if you can, keep people and pets clear, and do not keep running the opener. If you need to get a car out, our guide to manually releasing and re-engaging your garage door walks you through it. Then call a professional.
